The Art Deco style is all around us in 2008 and this is a global trend that we are seeing.

Gordon Ramsay's Chelsea restaurant at Claridges, in the West End, it has been described as a thoroughly classy, Art Deco-style establishment. Claridge’s is one of London’s most famous hotels and has been legendary since the 1860s. The interior incorporates many art deco elements from the 1920’s offering traditional glamour and luxury.
Kylie Minogue is not just a showgirl she is much more and all Art Deco inspired. Check out her video where an Art Deco mograph surrounds her in Director Ben Ib's video "The One". It is out of this world. Kylie has also got busy with her new 'At home in bed with Kylie' Art Deco bedding range in the UK - it is set to be released in Australia by the end of Nov 08.
Ralph Lauren is also getting into the Art Deco design with the latest perfume release called Notorious. Its a new fragrance 2008 where the fragrance bottle is Art Deco inspired and "architecturally balanced", that has been described as being a classic where its detailing is designed to evoke a piece of art or timeless accessory.

I have over 300 Art Deco original drawings that were given to me by my Great Auntie. Every single one of them are absolutely stunning, gorgeous, sexy, sophisticated and all the words you could possible describe this era as.

This is a very close up pic of what the textured canvas looks like.

I ordered over 60 Art Deco prints to be printed and these are arriving soon..I can't wait.

I did the first test run well over a month ago and I thought it looked fantastic. However now receiving the next test run...these are awesome!

I had scanned the first print test run in at 600 (dpi) and found that some of the finer ink lines where somewhat lost as they came out too thick and perhaps a bit uneven in places. Also found that the black was not really as black as it could be....so glad I only printed one of these as a test. This Art Deco canvas art print is on sale. Check it out...Print Sale It is still stunning, don't get me wrong...

Then I did a second print test run...I had scanned these in at 2400 (dpi) and these turned out to be absolutely perfect. The file size was massive and took forever to download but so worth the time and effort.

They are so close to what the original Art Deco ink drawings look like from the 1920s. I am so happy with the quality and the look of them. They are not printed on plain old yellowish canvas...(that is so boring and so yesterday) they are printed on a stunning glossy white textured canvas that looks as though it has been painted. Then the dark black ink shows the beautiful artistic detail. Worth a look! Here are some more prints...

Making a giant leap into the unknown

It all started one day as a result of the very large company I had worked for and dedicated many years to decided to roll out a huge number of redundancies. My whole team was completely wiped out by the decisions made by senior management. This was truly a sad day for myself, my workmates and their families. With these decisions I decided to do something completely different to what I have ever done in my life. I also decided that I would ensure that this would never ever happened to me again. I am the creator of my life and also the safe guarder of it. So, with this, I decided that I would get out the old ink drawings that had been given to me by my Great Auntie Gladys nearly 30 years ago. All these drawings are old, really old, like 80 years old.

When I was a young girl visiting my Great Auntie I would spend many hours going through the three books of ink drawings. There are over 300 Art Deco images and this is where I think I first caught the 'Art Deco Bug'. I call it this even though I have not ever heard of anyone else calling it this. It is an appropriate name for a condition that happens when you fall in love with something. You know the "Love Bug" and I like many others have fallen in love with Art Deco. For instances look at Kylie Minogue or Madonna they too have the Art Deco Bug. Even Ralph Lauren has it...

Many people enjoy collecting things such as art deco jewellery, vintage posters and wall art for the pure beauty, enjoyment, or for investment reasons. Many would like to do so, but are unable because of the high price involved. Obviously, owning an original painting would cost many hundreds of thousands of dollars. Perhaps a vintage poster would be a better option? Most paper prints are reproduced on a sturdy, almost cardboard-like paper. They are usually the most inexpensive prints available. While most are reasonably priced ($25-$150), some can cost hundreds of dollars. The price depends usually upon the reputation of the artist. Also many of these prints are only available in small sizes. What happens when you have a really large living space that is crying out for more?

Does size really matter? I think so, especially that many homes, offices or businesses have such large, open spaces these days and nothing looks worse than a small print up on a massive wall. You could purchase four small prints I guess and group them on top of each other to take up the space. This has been done to death and I think a new way needs to occur.

There is another way...Canvas art prints are fantastic and can be purchased in many different sizes. Usually your wall space dictates what size you need. It is amazing how this technology has advanced over the past decade and just about anything can be printed onto canvas and hung on your wall.
